The Wedding Secret by Jeannie Moon

Harper Poole might technically be an assistant, but with a Harvard MBA and killer instincts, she helps keep Reliance Software’s billions of revenue flowing smoothly. She’s made an amazing life for herself, has job security and exceptional wealth. She’s come a long way from the poor, wrong-side-of-the-tracks childhood that she hides in her past. She’s got everything she ever wanted – except, as she realizes while sitting through yet another emotional wedding, love. But a one night stand with the bride’s brother can help take a girl’s mind off anything…

Kevin Rossi is a star baseball player with a million-dollar image to protect. He’s been fooled by his share of gold diggers and has learned not to put his heart on the line. But he can’t get Harper off his mind. It seems like good luck when they reconnect almost a year after their hot night together. But Harper’s secrets go deeper than a mysterious past—nine months after their night, she had a baby. Can Kevin forgive her long enough to realize what his allstar life is missing… love?

I enjoyed this book a great deal. However, it wasn’t a 5 star read for me. Honestly, I can’t quite put my finger on it, but the story seemed to be missing something. What may have helped is reading this series in order. It could certainly be read as a stand alone novel, but personally I kept wanting to know more of the back story.

Then Came You by Jill Shalvis

Veterinary intern Emily can’t believe she wound up in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, instead of the Los Angeles clinic she had always imagined. Now she has to put her plans to move to L.A. on hold for a whole year while she fulfills the obligation of her vet school scholarship.

Then Wyatt, her gorgeous one-night stand from a Reno vet conference, introduces himself as her new boss. And Emily is just as drawn to his seductive looks and quiet strength as she was on that very steamy night. She soon learns that Wyatt isn’t just a laid-back doctor, but a delicious alpha male tempting her away from her carefully laid-out plans…

Jill Shalvis has been one of my favorite authors for sometime. The Animal Magnetism series is also a favorite. Obviously I love that it’s about animals and doing whatever you can to save and protect them. She does such a good job of describing her heroes that I totally see them in my minds eye. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Love and Shenanigans (Ballybeg #1) by Zara Keane

Fiona returns to Ballybeg to attend the family wedding from hell and discovers she’s married to the groom. With her future plans ricocheting out of control, can she untangle herself from the man who broke her heart so long ago?

Gavin’s life is low on drama, high on stability, and free of pets. But he hadn’t reckoned on Fiona blasting back into his life and crashing his wedding. In the space of twenty-four hours, he loses a fiancée and a job, and gains a wife and a labradoodle. Can he salvage his bland-but-stable life? More importantly, can he resist losing his heart to Fiona all over again.

This book was a great start to a new series by Zara Keane, Ballybeg.  I enjoyed the story of Gavin and Fiona.  After man years apart, they are brought back together in a most unusual way.  I loved that the people being cruel to them got theirs in the end!  I am looking forward to hearing more about the lives of the other characters in upcoming novels.

Anonymous by Dani-Lyn Alexander

What happens when an online date is not what it seems?

After Ali’s heart is broken, she decides to try Anonymous, a new dating website where you can retain complete anonymity while you search for your soul mate. When she discovers Joe, she thinks she may have at least found a new friend and decides to put her past behind her and move on.

Several death threats and an attempt on her life force her back into contact with her soon-to-be ex, Mark, who is the lead detective on the case. The tension builds between them while Ali struggles to get over Mark and Mark races to find the maniac who’s trying to kill her.

When Ali meets up with her online flame, she finds he’s anything but the friend she imagined…

I wanted something quick and easy to read, while still being enjoyable. This book delivered. I’ll admit it was a bit predictable, but I liked it nonetheless.

Blue Lines by Toni Aleo

Piper has been in love with her brother in law Erik Titov for the last two years. Unfortunately it seems, he doesn’t even “see” her: that all changes when the two are out on the town one night with friends. After an amazing few hours together, Erik freaks, and takes off. He’s so afraid he’s going to be just like his biological parents; abusive and addicted. He’s not about to put Piper through all that. Neither one realized that two little blue lines would soon bring them back together.

Piper and Erik were easy to relate to. I know that sounds strange, a famous hockey player relatable? However, it’s true. He reminded me of my husband, always gaming or watching tv, especially when he was trying to avoid sticky situations. I loved Piper’s character because she knew, she knew Erik was the one for her and no matter what he put her through, she stuck by him because she had faith in him and in their love. That couldn’t have been an easy thing to do. The author also did an excellent job of bringing in characters from previous stories, and setting up the next few books in the series.

The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the disappointment that Piper’s family had for her. There was never any real resolution to that.
This book was a well written and entertaining read. I couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to reading more in this series.

Just One Night by Lauren Layne

one night

Riley McKenna is a popular writer for women’s magazine, Stiletto.  She is the resident sex columnist.  There’s only one problem: she’s never done any of the things she writes about.

Since meeting her brother’s best friend, Sam Compton, a decade ago, there’s been no one else.

She doesn’t want to feel like a fraud, so she sets out to win Sam’s heart.  Little does she know, she’s had it all along.

This book is their story.

I thought this was well written and paced beautifully.  It was easy to connect with each character from the beginning.  I highly recommend this book!  It would be a perfect weekend read.

Hot Package by Lynn Raye Harris

PR Rep Olivia Reese has been sent evidence of a conspiracy between Titan Technology and certain members of the United States Government. She’s scared and the only thing she can think of doing is asking the one man that probably hates her for help; her ex Billy “The Kid” Blake.

Billy is a member of the Hostile Operations Team, and he’s never forgotten Olivia. He’ll do whatever he can to protect her. However, can he protect his heart at the same time?

This novella in Lynn Raye Harris’ HOT series provided just what I needed; a quick, entertaining read! It was just the perfect thing to tide me over until Dangerously Hot is released. Which “YAY” will be soon!

I am so looking forward to reading Lucky and Kevin’s story!

A Beauty So Rare by Tamera Alexander….This is the book I’ll be reviewing soon!

Eleanor Braddock–plain, practical, no stunning Southern beauty–knows she will never marry. But with a dying soldier’s last whisper, she believes her life can still have meaning and determines to find his widow. Impoverished and struggling to care for her ailing father, Eleanor arrives at Belmont Mansion, home of her aunt, Adelicia Acklen, the richest woman in America–and possibly the most demanding, as well.

Adelicia insists on finding her niece a husband, but a simple act of kindness leads Eleanor down a far different path–building a home for destitute widows and fatherless children from the Civil War. While Eleanor knows her own heart, she also knows her aunt will never approve of this endeavor.

Archduke Marcus Gottfried has come to Nashville from Austria in search of a life he determines, instead of one determined for him. Hiding his royal heritage, Marcus longs to combine his passion for nature with his expertise in architecture, but his plans to incorporate natural beauty into the design of the widows’ and children’s home run contrary to Eleanor’s wishes. As work on the home draws them closer together, Marcus and Eleanor find common ground–and a love neither of them expects.

But Marcus is not the man Adelicia has chosen for Eleanor, and even if he were, someone who knows his secrets is about to reveal them all.
